Welcome to BadAtGamingGuy’s Fortnite Blog!

Hey friends, I’m your friendly neighbourhood really bad gamer who loves Fortnite more than I love winning (which isn’t saying much 😂). This is the debut post of our chill little corner of the internet, where I’ll be geeking out over all the Fortnite news while inevitably making fun of myself for missing every shot. Expect casual, meme filled updates about patches, skins, tournaments, concerts, basically everything Fortnite. Consider this your Fortnite hangout spot, welcome aboard!

Gameplay Updates: New Modes, Weapons & Wild Tweaks

Just because I can’t hit a stationary target doesn’t mean Fortnite isn’t on fire lately! Hot off the digital presses: Fortnite OG Season 4 has blasted off (literally) as a throwback to Chapter1Season4. Iconic spots like Dusty Divot and Risky Reels are back on the map (plus the classic shopping cart zoom!), so old school vibes are everywhere.

I may miss the bus (every single time), but seeing Dusty Divot on the map again is a treat. Fortnite OG’s Season 4 runs until August 8, with a live “Blast Off” rocket event on July 26 (yep, the first rocket launch all over again – how nostalgic!).

Beyond OG mode, Epic keeps tossing me new toys to play with. In the latest patch (v36.10), a Machine Pistol was added – basically a tiny Gatling gun with 14 bullets, perfect for a noob (that’s me!) since it’s super fun to spray and pray. There’s also the Med Mist Grenade, the first healing gadget – it explodes into a mist that heals whoever is caught in it. Finally, we get a Pre-Game Warmup phase before matches now, so you can practice shooting while waiting for everyone (oh wait, I’m still awful at aiming even then…).

Blitz Royale mode: A new 32 player no build mode for speed demons. Matches only take ~5 minutes, everyone starts with a random buff (“Medallion”), and you level up by fighting in tiny maps. Weekly themes (Avatar, bosses, TMNT, etc.) keep it spicy. Play enough and you earn the Blitz Knight outfit (just hit 10 account levels or top 10 in 20 games).

DC Superpowers: Starting July 11, the Superman’s Call crystal can spawn in every Battle Royale match. Grab it and you fly with Superman’s strength, heat vision, and all – although get popped and you drop right back to Earth. Also, at Academy Labs you can buy new exotics: the bouncy Unstable Bounce Grenade and the explosive Unstable Thunderclap DMR, plus a Surging Speed boon that makes you super sprint and save energy (more fun for me with my two left thumbs! 😂).

Cosmetic Updates: Skins, Collabs, & Battle Pass Loot

Fortnite’s shop and passes are spilling over with collabs and cool outfits – basically everything a Fortnite hoarder (uh, I mean enthusiast) could want. For example, Marvel’s Fantastic Four are hitting the Island in style! There’s a Fantastic Four Cup (Squads mode on July 23) where the top teams unlock all four hero skins – Johnny “Human Torch” Storm, Ben “The Thing” Grimm, Reed “Mister Fantastic” Richards, and Sue “Invisible Woman” Storm. Survive a total of 60+ minutes for a witty “It’s Clobberin’ Time” spray and 120 minutes for a flaming “Flame On” emote.

Rock the competition as Marvel’s first family! Top squads in the Fantastic Four Cup earn all four character outfits. The Fortnite x Marvel Studios logo already has me hyped, and wearing The Thing’s knuckle duster gauntlet (or turning invisible with Sue) will make me feel slightly better about my Fortnite fails.

DC Super Friends: The Super Battle Pass (Chapter 6 Season 3) is packed with Superman goodies. If you grab the pass and rack up 12 account levels, you’ll unlock the classic Superman outfit (and at level 70 you unlock the black and white “Pen & Ink” style by Jim Lee). The Battle Pass also features the Daily Flight glider, Super Cape back bling, Crystal Smasher pickaxe, and more – all thematically Superman cool. Meanwhile, the Shop has arrived early with DC legend Mister Traffic’s outfit and The Engineer (a DC villain) outfit dropping July 10. It’s safe to say Kryptonite won’t save me from buying these.

Bruno Mars, World Tour: Fortnite Festival Season 9 (June 18 – ?) is a music meets battle event, and its first “Icon” is Bruno Mars. That means new Bruno themed cosmetics! The Bruno San outfit (with a bonus “Bruninho” Style), Bruno’s Glove back bling, keytar contrail, and even a new Brazilian Jam Track drop are all part of the World Tour bundle. Plus, the Season 9 Music Pass auto unlocks the “Die With a Smile” Bruno outfit and has two Bruno jam tracks, one by Silk Sonic (Bruno’s band). I’m already dancing in my chair just thinking about it.

OG Throwbacks: Even the Battle Pass vibes old school. The new OG Pass (for Fortnite OG mode) has 45 tiers of goodies celebrating classic Season 4 — including O.M.E.G.A. Suit Alpha, the ‘80s graffiti Street Wave Teknique, and a “Reality Unknown” Visitor outfit. Unlocking these feels extra epic in the OG map.

Competitive Scene: Tournaments & FNCS Action

For those of us who skip pro plays and eat Doritos instead, Fortnite’s competitive scene still brings some free loot. Right now, FNCS Major 3 is kicking off: Group Stages run Jul 20, 26 27 with Finals on Aug 2 3 (and the Global Championship will be in Lyon, France this fall). You can snag Twitch Drops by watching the Group Stage broadcasts (after 60 minutes you get a FNCS Coin emote, and in the Finals you get the FNCS Charger back bling).

Solo grinders can dive into the Champion Crystal FNCS Cup on July 19. This special one-day event lets top players bag the exclusive Champion Crystal Bundle (outfit, back bling, pickaxe, wrap, jam track) before it ever hits the shop. Even if you don’t podium, scoring just 8 points gets you a Crystal’s Run spray, and 40 points nets that sweet Charger back bling (in case you missed it watching Twitch).

So yeah, while I’m busy parachuting face first into bushes, the pro teams are duking it out for cash and glory. But hey, watching Twitch is basically training, right?

Community & Social Events: Parties, Quests & Live Music

Fortnite’s social calendar is wild this summer. For one, Fortnite Festival Season 9 started June 18, and it’s one big Bruno Mars party. The Main Stage has a futuristic glow up, and you can jam out to Bruno and other tracks in game. (Heads up: you can randomize your lobby music now – thank goodness, because I’m tired of the default jam).

Bruno Mars takes the stage in Fortnite! His World Tour Bundle (Bruno San outfit and gear) is in the shop for Season 9. I might not be able to hit the high notes, but at least my character can.

Right after, Party Up – Summer Road Trip kicks off on July 22. It’s a co-op quest chain (play any Creator or Epic map with friends) with daily challenges. Finish each day’s quest to unlock rewards – sprays, emoticons, wraps – and if you complete all 8 quests, you get a Chevrolet Corvette ZR1 bundle (car body, wheels, decals) as the grand prize. Yup, your squad can cruise the island in a vroom vroom sports car.

There’s even a crossover with Rocket League: play Rocket League’s Summer Road Trip challenges and you’ll earn a League Balloon Glider and the Hairpin driver outfit in Fortnite. Multi game grind for the win!

In classic Fortnite fashion, we’re ending OG Season 4 with a bang: the Blast Off live event. On July 26 everyone’s logging into the OG map for the rocket launch show. Think of it as history repeating – in 2018 a rocket lit up the sky for the first time, and now I’ll actually remember to log on for it.

Phew! As your very uncoordinated gaming pal, I’m already buzzing for all this. Expect more updates, memes, and probably fail compilations from me. Keep it locked on BadAtGamingGuy.com for the latest Fortnite shenanigans – I’ll be your guide, even if I’m sitting in a corner building a potato farm instead of a fort 😂 Happy surviving, everyone!
